Located on England's southeast coast, the Sussex region comprises the counties of East Sussex and West Sussex, each with its own unique heritage, picturesque coastline and pleasant countryside.

Centrally located, the seaside resort of Brighton is England's most popular beach destination and a good base for exploring the region. The town boasts a charming assortment of restored Georgian buildings, such as the ornate Royal Pavilion, and also claims some of Sussex's best accommodation, most sumptuous cuisine, and most exhilarating nightlife. Nearby are the West Sussex County Town of Chichester with its superb Gothic cathedral, the ancient Roman ruins of Fishbourne, and other pleasant coastal resorts of Goring and Worthing.

Situated on the Dungeness Promontory, Eastbourne is the most convenient center for excursions to East Sussex's main attractions. Near the town are the magnificent chalky headlands of Beach Head and the Seven Sisters. East along the coast lies the historic maritime harbour of Hastings and the enchanting medieval town of Rye, with its magnificent castle overlooking the Romney Marshes and Kent County. Inland lies the County Town of Lewes, brimming with historic architecture.

Sussex's central location on the south coast makes excursions to nearby counties easy to arrange. To the east lies Kent and the magnificent towns of Canterbury and Rochester; to the west, Hampshire and the tranquil Isle of Wight; while to the north are the rolling hills of Surrey.
